About the Ubuntu Mission
A grass-roots program where Christ brings freedom and wholeness through a relationship with God.
We view business as a primary institution to holistically serve peoples’ needs in a way that demonstrates the reality of God. The Ubuntu Mission is not affiliated with any one denomination and was started by Brian Lambert and Tim Ohai working with Brent Moeller, Bob Graham, Tony Cross, and others in Southern Africa.

Ubuntu Mission Team
Our Vision
To help Christian business leaders experience freedom and wholeness in their relationship with God and demonstrate the reality of that relationship to people in their local community through legitimate business practices.
We say, "A person is a person through other persons." . . . A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished..."
-- Archbishop Desmond Tutu, from "No Future Without Forgiveness"
Our Approach
While many look at the situation in South Africa as a crisis, we see it as an opportunity. The rippling effects of the AIDS epidemic are leaving a national “skills gap” in its wake. The Ubuntu Mission is focused on helping local leaders bridge this skills gap with:
- Business Skills Mentoring
- Business Visitation
- Business Consulting
- Church Discipleship

We primarily offer programs through established local churches or Bible Training Centers within Southern Africa as we help them with the following phases:
Phase 1: search out and select pastors and local leaders that have a sincere desire to develop business people.
Phase 2: arm and equip these leaders (especially those who are bi-vocational) with better business skills. Equip them to teach business skills to others as a local community outreach initiative
Phase 3: Support those leaders with the resources necessary to offer business skills training to others (especially college age youth) for the purpose of helping people get jobs, get better jobs, or grow their family-owned business within the community.
Ubuntu Mission is encouraging churches to develop Bible studies and prayer groups to regularly meet and focus on the Biblical aspects of serving God in business.
